{Blogtember} - Social Media Junkie

A few weeks ago, Claudy and I were sitting in the boat fishing when my sister in law asked, "what are negatives and positives of Facebook?"

This was difficult for me to answer, kind of like today's writing prompt from Jenni...

** As a missionary, social media was a life line for me. It was a glimpse it a familiar world, when everything around me was unfamiliar. It was an escape from the realities of the poverty around me. It was a way to connect with people who "got me," it was there for me when I was home sick, feeling alone, and needed to see pictures of those I had left behind. It brought me messages of comfort, it challenged me spiritually and encouraged me...I can't imagine what the mission field was like 15 -20 years ago, when social media and internet didn't exist..

** For over 8 years, I have lived 2,000 + miles away from my family. Social media has helped me see those close to me...

** Blogging is an outlet for me. It is a way for me to share from my heart, a way for me to process my emotions.

** It's a time warp...I get sucked in and I look up and an hour as been wasted.

** Let's be honest...I love it. I love instagramming and looking for great photos to take. I love thinking about a blog post I can write.  I love going to my computer each morning to see what others have talked about.

I'm Ashlee, and I'm a Social Media Junkie...

Great post, I would imagine social media was so important for you when living so far away from your family. Where were you a missionary at? That's truly amazing!

Oh my friend you summed me up as well. I have no idea how in the world missionaries did this before social media.
