{Marriage Link-up} - Growing up

This Link-up is making me think so deeply.

Claudy and I celebrate our one year anniversary on Saturday. There are moments, that I can't believe how fast the  year has went, and other moments where it feels like we have been married forever.

Marriage has changed us...We are definitely not the same people we were a year ago, nor are we the same couple.

Marriage has made we so aware of my selfishness, my flaws, and areas that I need to grow in. It's like all of a sudden there is a mirror up to your face and your weaknesses are flashing in front of you. Through that process, it is has refined me...it has made me desire to be better, to pursue Christ more and to more holy.

Marriage has made us closer. It was hard to imagine on my wedding day, that I could love Claudy more than I did then. It was hard to imagine that I would we would become even better friends...but both of those things are true. I love him more and we are closer now then we were then. Even though some of that came naturally, it also takes work. Having our first year of marriage be in Haiti, has not been easy. It's not always easy for us to get time alone and enrich our marriage, but we have tried. Date nights are extremely important. It is easy to get caught in the busyness of life, but these nights help us to grow closer together. We have intentional conversations and spend time with just one another.

I always thought when I got married I would do a devotional with my hubby. I have to say, it doesn't work for us. We have tried...it just didn't work great. So, we talk to each other about what we are learning and studying, but we don't actually have a set time together each day. The one thing I do love, is praying over one another and inviting God into our marriage continually.

I'm so thankful that God designed marriage. I'm so thankful for the blessing that Claudy is to me and that he challenges me to grow. I'm excited to see what we learn in year 2 and in the many more years we have together.

I'm also participating in today's hump day blog hop!!

I always thought my husband and I would do a devotional together too... it didn't work out for us either. We do the same little devo book but at different times and then talk about it.
I'm a new reader but what are yall up to in Haiti?

I found you through the link up (:

We definitely tried devotionals together too and it didn't work for us either! But that is ok and I know each couple is different.

This was such a nice post! My husband and I are a year and six months into our marriage, and are still working out how to spend intimate time with God TOGETHER. We both already had how we liked to do it alone, but doing it as one has been a challenge. However, the experience has been so beneficial and has grown us a lot.

I second everything everyone else has said above about the devotionals together. Knowing that you can expand together though is wonderful encouragement even if you study the Word alone. Thanks so much for linking up with us! I think you touched on so many wonderful points that every wife should be reminded of!
