My Dearest Lia

My Dearest Lia -

In a few weeks you will be with us. You have already taught me so much. For most of my life, I've struggled with needing/wanting to please others...in essence, I've felt I've needed to earn love, even from God. There's something I understand better now and something I want you to know...

You don't have to earn my love...you don't have to earn God's love...

You were created and formed in love. There is nothing you can do to lose my love. You are enough for Him. There is nothing you can do that he won't still love you. There is nothing you can do to make Him love you more.

My prayer is that you believe this fully and never question how or why you were created.

Precious Lia, I want you to know some things...

In this life you will face difficulties and trials, you will feel hurt and pain; as much as I wish I could protect you from that, I can't, but plant your feet firm in the Lord...cling to Him, He is your Rock.

Dream big. One of the things I love most about your daddy...even though he has had a lot of difficulties in life, he has never lost his ability to dream. Don't forget to dream big. If there is one thing I have learned in this life, it is to not put God in a box. Allow Him to send you places, be willing to say yes to Him...He has plans for your that are far greater than you could ever dream for yourself.

Obedience and Submission are good things. Don't flee from them, but run to them. In your obedience, you will experience far greater love and dependence for your Savior that you could never experience on your own.

Work hard...you may be talented and have great gifts, but God wants you to use them and develop them. Without hard work you will always wonder what would have been.

Live with no regrets. Don't wonder about the "what should have been." If you work hard, try new things, and follow God's leading, you won't have regrets.

Choose your friends wisely. My dad always told me you won't bring them up, they are more likely to bring you down. Choose friends that encourage you to grow in your faith, that aren't afraid to call you out..friends that love you.

When you sin and fail...Admit it! Own it! Cling to your Redeemer. Learn from your mistakes and don't let them own you.

Only God can save you. During periods of your life, you will look to yourself, others, the world, and even religion to help you...seeking these things won't help you, only Jesus has the power to save you. Run to Him!

Be dedicated and committed. Study God's word...not only in the spiritual sense, also be dedicated and committed to anything you do.

Love God and Love Others. Put others before yourself. Be a servant. Be a Giver...Love as God loves.

I have so many dreams for you...but my greatest dream is not about your finances or your career...it's that you love the Lord, are a vessel for Him and follow Him down the narrow path.

Always know that I am proud of you and proud to call you my daughter.

I love you.
